Readers find some of the best stories. If you've seen good news about America, such as a rescue, a neighbor helping neighbors, new jobs in your town, a science breakthrough or a veteran being honored, we'd love to hear about it.

How to send it

Or just reply to any issue. Please include:

• A link to the news story (a local paper or TV station is perfect)
• One line on why it made you smile
• Your first name and city, and whether we may credit you (for example, "Reader pick from Emily in Provo, Utah")

What happens next

1. We read every tip.
2. We check it against at least two reputable, independent sources. If we can't verify it, we won't run it.
3. If it runs, we'll mark it as a Reader pick. Your first name and city appear only if you said yes.
4. We'll write back to thank you, whether or not it runs.

What we look for

True, recent and positive stories about Americans and America. We're nonpartisan: no candidates, campaigns or political fights. We don't run press releases without independent coverage, and we don't run fundraising appeals.
